Faculty News
Alan Mantooth

Alan Mantooth, a member of the Space Center and a faculty member in the department of Electrical Engineering, has been elevated to the grade of Fellow within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).  The IEEE is a non-profit organization, and it is an authority on areas ranging from aerospace systems to consumer electronics.  The grade of Fellow recognizes the unusual distinction in the profession and is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.

Dr. Mantooth will also be presenting a paper on his research on NASA electronics for extreme environments at the March IEEE meeting.  The paper is titled “SiGe BiCMOS Fully Differential Amplifier for Extreme Temperature Range Applications.”

Center Classes
Honors Colloquium

Derek Sears, a member of the Space Center and a faculty member in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, is teaching an Honors Colloquium to a group of 36 undergraduate students at the University of Arkansas this semester.

The colloquium is titled “The Exploration of Space: A Perspective from the Visual Arts.”  The colloquium illustrates the various forces that have sculpted the exploration of space and the intensely human nature of the undertaking.  The series will examine twelve works of art from the realms of painting, engraving, sculpting, drawing, architecture, and the cinema.

Center Publications
Meteorite magazine

The Space Center will begin its fourth year as publisher of Meteorite magazine, an international, quarterly magazine of meteorites and meteorite science.

Meteorite magazine serves as a forum for communication between amateurs, collectors, dealers, educators and researchers interested in meteorites.
