Applications are invited for the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences Visiting Researcher program.
This program supports established researchers (i.e., those possessing a Ph.D.) interested in collaborating with researchers at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in the study of the space and planetary sciences. Periods of study might be the summer, a semester, or a year, or any other period appropriate to the research to be undertaken, although appointments cannot be made for periods in excess of a year. Areas of particular interest to the center are the analysis of extraterrestrial materials, water on Mars, life on Mars, the detection and characterization of asteroids, the detection and characterization of extrasolar planets, remote sensing of planetary surfaces, the development of instruments for spacecraft, geological and biological processes on planetary surfaces and astronomical processes. Stipends are commensurate with experience and research costs will be provided. Applications should be submitted at least two months before the anticipated starting date. Women and members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should send a letter of interest (mentioning potential collaborators), a curriculum vita with list of relevant publications, a brief statement of proposed research (maximum three pages), and a list of three references.
