| REU Alumni: Where They Are Now |
The Space Center Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program is now entering its seventh year. Over the years, the alumni of this program have gone on to accomplish great things in their educational and professional lives. We would like to dedicate much of this issue of Space Notes to the alumni of the Space Center REU program.
REU 2002 Alumni
Sonya Barner graduated from Jackson State University in 2003 with a degree in Biology.
Thomas Dougan graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2003, with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Nikolaus Hagedorn graduated from Christian Brothers University in 2003 with a degree in chemistry. He is working at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Jennifer McGee graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2003 with a degree in physics. She is a graduate student at the University of Colorado.
Katie McKeever graduated from Penn State University in 2004 with a degree in civil engineering. She is in graduate school.
Tahirih Motazedian graduated from the University of Oregon in 2004 with a degree in geophysics. She is a graduate student at the University of Arizona.
Spencer Riley graduated from Weber State University in 2003 with a degree in physics and geology. He works for Schlumberger Technology Corporation.
Adam Rowland graduated from Texas A & M University in 2004 with a degree in chemistry. He is a graduate student at the University of Texas (Austin).
Chris Sears graduated from the University of Chicago in 2003 with a degree in physics. He is a graduate student at Stanford University.
Isra Sunachawi graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2003 with a degree in electrical/computer engineering. He works at Boeing in Seattle.
Justin Thompson graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2003 with a degree in physics/math. He is a graduate student at the University of Southern California.
Jessica White graduated from Concordia University in 2003 with a degree in chemistry. She works for Tyco Healthcare.
Jay Wright graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2004 with a degree in biology.

Katherine Brutlag graduated from Middlebury College in 2004 with a degree in physics/japanese. She is a graduate student at Kyoto University.
Aisha Garel graduated from Texas A & M University in 2003 with a degree in aerospace engineering. She finished her master’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Houston.
Christina Griffis graduated from Arkansas State University in 2004 with a degree in physics.
Robert Halvorsen graduated from Texas Tech University in 2004 with a degree in physics/math. He is a graduate student at the University of Minnesota.
Steven McAllister is an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon.
Jonathan McBee graduated from Wheaton College in 2004 with a degree in physics.
John Mischler graduated from Augustana College in 2005 with a degree in geology/physics. He is a graduate student at Penn State University.

Benjamin Stanley graduated from Oberlin College in 2005 with a degree in geology/physics.
Dustin Trail graduated from the University of Colorado in 2003 with a degree in computer science/geology. He is a graduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Simrit Bassett is a teacher that participated in the program. She is a teacher at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, AR.
Jesse Buffington graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2006 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He works at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
Joshua Coltrane is an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University.
Jonathan Craig graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2005 with a degree in physics. He is a graduate student at the Space Center at the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville).
Ryan Davidson graduated from the University of Missouri in 2006 with a degree in geology/geophysics. He is a graduate student at the Colorado School of Mines.
Jason Lee graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2006 with a degree in physics. He is a graduate student at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Aaron Phillips graduated from Delta State University in 2005 with a degree in chemistry/math. He currently works at Baxter Healthcare.

| First Public Lecture of Fall 2007 |

Dr. Mack Ivey, a member of the Space Center and a faculty member in the department of Biological Sciences, will give the first public lecture of the fall semester. It is entitled, “Microbial ‘Survivor’: Life at the Limits.” The lecture will be held on September 19, 2007, in the Space Center Auditorium, MUSE 201, at 7:00 pm. The cost is free and the event is open to the public. |
